Common Questions

What ages do you accept?

We train teens and adults. Kyokushin requires focus and maturity, so our minimum age is 12. We also strongly encourage middle‑aged students to join, especially in our Karate Fit program, which is perfect if you want Kyokushin training and conditioning without hard full contact.

Do I need experience to start training?

No. We welcome complete beginners. Our instructors teach step by step and help you build confidence at your own pace.

What should I wear to my first class?

Wear comfortable workout clothes, like a t-shirt and shorts or track pants. Bring a water bottle. If you join, you can later buy a karate uniform (gi).

Is full-contact sparring required?

No. Beginners start with basics, pads, and light partner drills. Full-contact sparring is introduced slowly and only when you are ready and feel comfortable.

Do you offer classes for fitness only?

Yes. Our Karate Fit program gives you the training and conditioning of Kyokushin without sparring or contact, perfect if you want fitness and skills without impact.

Where is the dojo and how do I book a trial class?

We are located at 291 Pemberton Ave, North Vancouver, BC. To book a free trial class, use the contact form on the site or click the trial class button on the home page or email us with your request : dowlat2@aol.com  and   Subject line : kyokushin

What if I come from another martial art or karate style?

You are welcome here. We accept students from all other karate styles, Kyokushin affiliations, and other martial arts. We respect your past training and help you adapt to our dojo’s way step by step.
